Winn Dixie receives community service recognition in Miami

MIAMI Winn Dixie on Thursday received public recognition for its service and commitment to the Miami, particularly in the Liberty City community, the grocer announced.

“We proudly receive this honor. By partnering with neighborhood organizations in the communities we serve, Winn-Dixie is able to better support organizations that focus on issues that are important to our customers and associates,” stated Randy Rambo, Winn-Dixie’s regional vice president of the Miami Region.

Winn-Dixie received this special recognition for the service the company provides inside the store, for the company’s longstanding commitment to hiring young people from the community, and for its support of the many Liberty City neighborhood organizations, including the Optimist Club, the Liberty City Trust and the Northwestern High School band.

Rite Aid sponsors Dirt Track race on SPEED in May

CONCORD, N.C. Rite Aid may be making inroads with a younger demographic this year.

World Racing Group on Monday announced that SPEED will be the exclusive television partner for World of Outlaws racing in 2008, which includes coverage May 23 of the three-hour Rite Aid Outlaw Showdown broadcast live from The Dirt Track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

“The World of Outlaws broadcasts in 2007 showed us how exciting dirt track racing can be on television,” stated Rick Miner, SPEED senior vice president of Production and Network Operations. “The success of the World Finals show from The Dirt Track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway gave us a gameplan for ‘08, as part of that plan we will be treating the five new super-sized events just as we do any other major motorsports event on SPEED, which should significantly raise the profile of World of Outlaws racing.”

A return to SPEED in 2008 as the exclusive television outlet for World of Outlaws racing will bring consistency and awareness to the viewers.

“The broadcast agreement with SPEED continues the solid growth we realized in 2007,” stated World Racing Group chief executive officer Brian Carter. “The more than 75 million viewers on SPEED give our corporate partners … as well as our teams and our promoters, the greatest opportunity to reach our fans on a consistent basis. SPEED is the home for racing on television and we’re excited to again have the World of Outlaws on SPEED this season.”

Raley’s and Organic Bistro help diabetics

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Supermarkets under Raley’s banners are teaming up with Organic Bistro Whole Life Meals to provide free classes, educational material and low-priced healthy products for consumers with diabetes.

As part of the program, Raley’s corporate dietitian Earline Griffith is visiting many of Raley’s 129 stores on a tour to conduct classes educating diabetics on how to better manage their condition and lead a healthier life.

“We want to provide customers fighting diabetes with resources and realistic meal solutions so that achieving a healthy lifestyle is convenient,” said Griffith.

In support of Raley’s educational outreach, Organic Bistro is providing customers with coupons for its frozen entree products that are available at Raley’s stores including Raley’s Supermarkets, Bel Air Markets and Nob Hill Foods. The coupons are for its line of Whole Life Meals, which are suitable for diabetics because they contain a low glycemic index and load, which measures how quickly foods turn into sugar.
