Certified USDA Organic skin care line targets teens

BY Antoinette Alexander

GREENWICH, Conn. — Built on a mission to empower teens to make healthy and informed choices, the #MPWR ("empower") brand has announced the launch of its Certified USDA Organic skin care line for teens.

The #MPWR brand and its products strive to offer full transparency of its ingredients, with each product going through the process of becoming Certified USDA Organic. The #MPWR skin care line is designed to keep skin clean and hydrated, as well as keep blemishes under control.

"As a mother with a son born with life-threatening food and skin allergies, I was shocked to learn that many skincare products contain ingredients known to be harmful, while still being labeled as natural or organic," said Maura Mandell, founder and CEO of #MPWR. "In a quest to create something I can feel good about for my own kids, #MPWR was derived from natural, botanical and organic sources. I'm so excited to have the ability to offer the cleanest, greenest products for young skin that delivers results without compromise."

Under development for more than five years, the #MPWR skincare line displays the Certified USDA Organic seal on each of its four products. The line includes:

  • Go Wash Your Face! Gentle Cleanser;
  • Mist Off! Refreshing and Deep Cleansing Spray;
  • Recharge! Nourishing Moisturizer; and
  • Zip, Zap, Gone! Spot Treatment.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Zico Beverages announced the introduction of a new hydration alternative that contains half the calories of a regular fruit drink. The company's new Zico Chilled Premium Coconut Water and Juice Blends combines chilled coconut water with fruit juice.

The beverage packs just as much potassium as a banana, the company said, while offering 45% fewer calories than a fruit drink. It contains no added flavors or preservatives. The chilled juices also are dairy- and gluten-free and come in three varieties: Zico Chilled Orange Juice Blend, Zico Chilled Pineapple Mango Orange Juice Blend and Zico Natural Chilled Coconut Water.

“Zico Chilled Juices provide the best of both worlds — all the hydration benefits of coconut water and the taste of refreshing juice, without compromise,” said Lorna Peters, CMO for Zico. “In the ongoing pursuit of balanced, healthy living, Zico Chilled Juices are an easy, delicious way to incorporate conscious choices in your day.”

Zico's Chilled Juices are available in a 1.5-L Tetra Pak and retails for $7.99. When it launches, consumers can find the beverage in California, Texas, Arizona, Oregon, Colorado and Washington state. The company said it aims to extend nationally in the future.
