TheraPearl to debut at Target
COLUMBIA, Md. — TheraPearl, a creator of therapy products, announced that its line of hot and cold pearl-filled packs will soon be available in Target stores across the country.
The company’s Back Wrap and Sports Pack are already available at Target.com and will make their brick-and-mortar debut in the First Aid section on April 19. While TheraPearl’s products have been available in Target Canada since last year, this announcement marks the first appearance of its products in Target’s U.S. stores.
"TheraPearl is excited to expand its U.S. retail presence with Target, which is one of the last major U.S. retailers we haven’t had the opportunity to partner with,” said Daniel Baumwald, president of TheraPearl. “This new retail relationship with Target is not only an ideal fit for our brand, but also extends the reach of our innovative products to millions of consumers across the country."
TheraPearl uses what it calls "pearl technology," which allows the packs to be chilled in the freezer or heated in the microwave but still remain pliable when they’re used on the body. TheraPearl’s Back Wrap is indicated for relief of upper-, mid- or lower-back pain, as well as abdominal cramps and muscle tenderness. The Sports Pack can be used after a workout for the treatment of aches, pains, swelling and redness.
QS/1 introduces SlateMate tablet
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — QS/1, a provider of healthcare automation solutions, announced the introduction of the Motion SlateMate tablet, a wireless device that is available for use with QS/1’s pharmacy management systems and point-of-sale platforms.
The SlateMate is a tablet pc with an integrated magnetic strip reader and a barcode scanner. It can be used to checkout customers, process credit cards and capture signatures. Additionally, it can be used with an optional wireless printer to print receipts. The device may also be used for bedside checkout in the hospital or clinical setting, helping to better service patients while also making sure the necessary signatures and information are collected, the company said.

The SlateMate lets you take QS/1’s products around your store and at the drive-through window with full functionality.”
RediClinic announces partnership with Seton Healthcare
AUSTIN, Texas — Retail clinic operator RediClinic has formed a joint venture with Seton Healthcare Family to expand the number of RediClinics operating in H-E-B stores in the Austin, Texas area.
“We are very excited about our new partnership with Seton because it will enable us to expand our service in the Austin community,” said Web Golinkin, RediClinic’s CEO. “This means at least doubling the number of clinics we operate in Austin and collaborating with Seton to ensure continuity of care for RediClinic patients.”
“You can’t beat the convenience of RediClinics in H-E-B stores for the treatment of minor illnesses and preventive care,” said family practitioner Greg Sheff, EVP clinical systems at Seton. “As their partner, we can expand access to care and explore innovations in service delivery.”
Seton is collaborating with a variety of providers and payers to develop a clinically integrated network that lowers barriers to illness prevention and treatment. According to a 2013 PwC/HRI survey, 23% of consumers have sought treatment in a retail-based clinic and 73% would go to a retail-based clinic again.
“With walk-in clinics growing in popularity, Seton wanted a partner who shares our emphasis on quality and understands the importance of integration with medical experts,” said Jesús Garza, president and CEO of Seton. “RediClinic is aligned with our strategy to connect a patient to the right care in the right place at the right time.”
RediClinic has operated clinics inside Austin-area H-E-B grocery stores since 2006. The six local clinics provide acute, episodic care for a broad range of common conditions, as well as preventive care that includes medical tests, immunizations, physical exams and a medically supervised weight-management program.
As previously reported by Drug Store News, Rite Aid announced on April 10 that it has acquired RediClinic. Through the acquisition, RediClinic will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Rite Aid.
RediClinic currently operates 30 clinics in the greater Houston, Austin and San Antonio areas.
