Summer Infant appoints new COO

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — Summer Infant has named David Hemendinger as its new COO.

In his new role, Hemendinger will be responsible for assuring that the company’s operational infrastructure in its information systems and supply chain effectively and efficiently supports the company’s business and growth initiatives, Summer Infant said. He replaces Summer Infant COO Jeffery Hale.

"As a former executive at a number of high level companies, David has demonstrated his experience as a strategist and creative problem solver," Summer Infant chairman and CEO Jason Macari said. "His innovative solutions which combine process change with the right technology have helped his organizations achieve phenomenal results; he also has extensive knowledge of product design, development, manufacturing, and quality control. David is a strong leader, a team builder, and an excellent cultural fit for our business. We look forward to working with David and believe his contributions in this new role will be instrumental as we work to fine-tune our operations to ensure Summer Infant’s successful business development and profitability."

Swanson boosts stock, broth portfolio

CAMDEN, N.J. — Swanson has rolled out Flavor Boost concentrated broths and unsalted cooking stocks.

The new broth concentrates and stocks represent five of the nearly three dozen new products Swanson’s parent company, Campbell Soup Co., is introducing this fall.

Swanson Flavor Boost has a suggested retail price of $3.99 for eight concentrated liquid broth packets. Swanson unsalted cooking stocks have a suggested retail price of $3.15 for a 26-oz. resealable aseptic carton.

Minute Maid amps up beverage offering with new line

HOUSTON — Minute Maid is shaking up the juice aisle with a new line of products that includes 100% orange juices and a light orange juice beverage.

Minute Maid Pure Squeezed includes no pulp 100% orange juice, no pulp 100% orange juice with calcium and vitamin D, some pulp 100% orange juice and light orange juice beverage with calcium and vitamin D.

In honor of the launch, Minute Maid has tapped "Modern Family" star Ty Burrell to appear in the Minute Maid Pure Squeezed advertising campaign, which will include a series of TV spots that will premiere on ABC, Fox, TBS and Bravo.

Minute Maid Pure Squeezed is available at supermarkets and mass merchandisers nationwide.
