Shoppers Drug Mart offering Balea products at stores
TORONTO Shoppers Drug Mart is expanding its portfolio of exclusive brands with the launch of a new line of health-and-beauty products.
The new Balea line is available exclusively at more than 1,160 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix stores across Canada. The line will boast more than 130 items by the end of 2009, with hundreds more to follow in 2010.
The Balea line includes products for the whole body, including hair care, facial wipes, lip balms, body lotion and foot creams. Within the collection are seven sub-brands: Balea Kids, Balea Hai, Balea Face, Balea Hand, Balea Body, Balea Bath and Balea Shave.
Unique ingredient and scent combinations include white ginger and nectarine (deodorant), vanilla and coconut (shampoo), and nectarine and yogurt (shave cream). Balea also aims to add value to everyday items like razors, by offering a triple blade for more effective results and built-in aloe and shea butter for moisturizing, and multi-purpose 3-in-1 cleansing cloths.
L’Oreal Paris to receive Friend of The Walk of Fame award
NEW YORK As L’Oreal Paris celebrates its 100th anniversary, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will present the beauty company with its Friend of The Walk of Fame award for its efforts to beautify and preserve the iconic Walk of Fame.
The ceremony will take place on Oct. 20 near the entrance to the Kodak Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, adjacent to the Walk of Fame. Top L’Oreal Paris executives and some of the company’s spokespeople are scheduled to attend the unveiling.
As a Friend of the Walk of Fame, L’Oreal Paris will help fund the Walk’s renovation and restoration. The Walk of Fame will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2010.
To further celebrate the company?s Hollywood preservation efforts and its 100th anniversary, it will offer free lip touch-ups by L’Oreal Paris makeup artists to passers-by in the heart of Hollywood on Oct. 21 and 22, and $1 gold coupons valid toward the purchase of any L’Oreal Paris product.
Tom’s of Maine teams up with nonprofit organization
KENNEBUNK, Maine Tom’s of Maine, a manufacturer of natural personal care products, has teamed up with Charity: water, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.
Through Dec. 31, Tom’s of Maine will match each $5 donation made by texting WELL to 20222, up to $10,000, to fund water projects in areas most in need. One hundred percent of the public’s donations will go directly to freshwater projects. Tom’s of Maine is also supporting charity: water’s 100% model by providing additional funds to underwrite the costs of this campaign.
“Our goal for this initiative is to build four wells, which cost only $5,000 each, but can bring lasting, positive change to so many,” stated Kate Bussell at Tom’s of Maine. “Charity: water shares our deep connection to clean water, and we commend them on the more than 1,400 water projects they’ve already completed in just three short years.”
