Shoppers Drug Mart offering Balea products at stores

TORONTO Shoppers Drug Mart is expanding its portfolio of exclusive brands with the launch of a new line of health-and-beauty products.

The new Balea line is available exclusively at more than 1,160 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix stores across Canada. The line will boast more than 130 items by the end of 2009, with hundreds more to follow in 2010.

The Balea line includes products for the whole body, including hair care, facial wipes, lip balms, body lotion and foot creams. Within the collection are seven sub-brands: Balea Kids, Balea Hai, Balea Face, Balea Hand, Balea Body, Balea Bath and Balea Shave.

Unique ingredient and scent combinations include white ginger and nectarine (deodorant), vanilla and coconut (shampoo), and nectarine and yogurt (shave cream). Balea also aims to add value to everyday items like razors, by offering a triple blade for more effective results and built-in aloe and shea butter for moisturizing, and multi-purpose 3-in-1 cleansing cloths.

L’Oreal Paris to receive Friend of The Walk of Fame award

NEW YORK As L’Oreal Paris celebrates its 100th anniversary, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will present the beauty company with its Friend of The Walk of Fame award for its efforts to beautify and preserve the iconic Walk of Fame.

The ceremony will take place on Oct. 20 near the entrance to the Kodak Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, adjacent to the Walk of Fame. Top L’Oreal Paris executives and some of the company’s spokespeople are scheduled to attend the unveiling.

As a Friend of the Walk of Fame, L’Oreal Paris will help fund the Walk’s renovation and restoration. The Walk of Fame will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2010.

To further celebrate the company?s Hollywood preservation efforts and its 100th anniversary, it will offer free lip touch-ups by L’Oreal Paris makeup artists to passers-by in the heart of Hollywood on Oct. 21 and 22, and $1 gold coupons valid toward the purchase of any L’Oreal Paris product.

Goody to launch hair accessories collection exclusively at Target

ATLANTA Goody is launching exclusively at Target its new Midnight Glamour hair accessories collection just in time for the holiday shopping season.

The collection includes headbands, clips, bobbies and barrettes for all occasions. From bows in vanilla lace to sparkling beads; ribbons of deep plum satin to black feather accents, the collection offers designs for day or night.

The Goody Midnight Glamour collection will be available exclusively at Target stores from November 2009 to February 2010. The suggested retail price is $2.19 to $7.99.
