Shoppers Drug Mart, Beyond the Rack offering Shoppers Optimum members new online experience

TORONTO — Shoppers Drug Mart is collaborating with online private shopping club Beyond the Rack to provide Shoppers Optimum members with exclusive deals on designer fashions and accessories.

Shoppers Optimum members are invited to join a new subscription-based retail website that offers exclusive savings and rewards on designer fashions and accessories. Those who register can receive special weekly product offers from Beyond the Rack while collecting 10 Optimum points on every dollar spent.

"We are always looking for new ways to reward Shoppers Optimum members, and partnering with Beyond the Rack allows us to offer amazing deals on designer fashions and accessories for our style-savvy shoppers," stated Mike Motz, EVP and chief merchandising officer for Shoppers Drug Mart. "Gaining access to exclusive designer discounts while earning Shoppers Optimum points gives our members a unique and rewarding shopping experience."

Optimum members who register for the new program via the Shoppers Drug Mart website will receive weekly emails with exclusive shopping offers on designer merchandise, including fashion, electronics, jewelry and more. While enjoying discounts of up to 80%, Optimum-Beyond the Rack members will rack up 10 Shoppers Optimum points for every dollar spent on the new website to be redeemed on purchases at Shoppers Drug Mart. These members-only deals will last for seven days as opposed to the usual 48-hour deals currently offered by Beyond the Rack. Optimum-Beyond the Rack members will have access to deals on designer brands for up to 80% off.

Shoppers Optimum members who register before Nov. 4 will be entered to win one of three early-bird prizes: a pair of Tod’s Sunglasses valued at $400; a Coach handbag valued at $350; and a Beyond the Rack shopping credit of $150.

Out of Africa continues support of West African women, children with sponsorship

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. — Out of Africa, which is a line of natural and vegan skin care products using 100% pure, unrefined shea butter, is sponsoring in November the Shine On Sierra Leone’s Cash & Rocket VolunTourism Trip Sierra Leone, which will launch the building of the first and only secondary school in the Bongema Village.

This journey also will include visits to Shine On Sierra Leone’s program sites, including participation in building The Muddy Lotus secondary school. "This event brings women from around the world together for a common cause, and it is a privilege to support this initiative and help the people of Sierra Leone rebuild,” Out of Africa CEO Victor Lulla said.

Out of Africa also sponsors two charitable projects by donating a portion of their sales to The Benin Education Fund and Shine On Sierra Leone.

The Out of Africa product portfolio includes bar soaps, hand and body washes, body butters, lip balms, lotions, creams, body oils and shea butter tins. The line harvests and crushes the shea nuts available while supporting several women’s cooperatives in Benin, West Africa. Their shea butter, known as the "Women’s Gold" of Africa, is made by hand in order to maintain maximum healing and moisturizing properties.

Gillette, Kate Upton team up for ‘Movember’

BOSTON — Procter & Gamble’s Gillette has kicked off its official partnership with Movember by inviting men and women to join Team Gillette. As part of Team Gillette, they can join a star-studded lineup of Movember supporters, including Kate Upton as team captain, Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola and New England Revolution defender Kevin Alston.

To up the ante and provide encouragement for anyone growing a Mo this year, Gillette will donate $100 to the Mo Space pages of the first 250 men and women who sign up on Team Gillette.

Movember is the global men’s health charity encouraging men to grow and women to support the Mo (moustache) for the 30 days of November. Through the power of the moustache, funds and awareness are raised for men’s health to combat prostate and testicular cancer. Mo Bros — men growing out their moustaches — and Mo Sistas — the women who support them — can join Team Gillette by signing up at MoTeam.co/Team-Gillette. Mo Bros start Movember 1 clean-shaven. After shaving down, they let their moustaches grow for the 30 days of November, getting friends, family and colleagues to donate to their Mo-growing efforts.

Men and women who join Team Gillette will have the chance to win prizes, including tickets and on-the-field experiences at NFL games, pieces of Movember art from artists curated by Complex, signed gear from some of their Movember teammates and more. Rallied by their celebrity teammates, members of Team Gillette will be joining Movember’s fight against prostate and testicular cancer.

After registering at Movember.com, the first official rule of Movember is to kick off the month with a smooth-shaven face. So, on Oct. 29, Team Gillette’s star roster of Boston-based athletes will participate in a ceremonial shave down event of their own at Gillette Stadium. Amendola, Aliston and fellow members from their teams will have their faces shaved completely in preparation for Movember. On Nov. 1, Team Gillette participants across the country can participate in Movember’s official “Shave the Date: Movember 1” events in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston and Boston.
