Sanofi US tethers a blood-glucose meter to Apple’s iPhone, iPod Touch
BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — The number of healthcare diagnostic products featuring a direct link to Apple’s iPhone or iPod Touch increased by one on Wednesday as Sanofi US announced the launch of the iBGStar Blood Glucose Monitoring System.
iBGStar is available for purchase at Apple Retail Stores and all Walgreens stores nationwide, online at Apple.com, Walgreens.com and through Diabetic Care Services, the company added.
“Many people with diabetes today rely both on their iPhone or iPod Touch and blood-glucose monitors as important parts of their daily lives,” stated Naina Sinha, an in-patient diabetes attending physician and assistant professor of medicine at a leading academic medical center and university in New York. “By combining these two essential tools, iBGStar makes it possible to provide blood-glucose tracking, monitoring and reporting together in a new way.”
When iBGStar is directly connected to an iPhone or iPod Touch and used with the iBGStar Diabetes Manager App, blood-glucose results are presented on the multitouch display quickly after monitoring. iBGStar also can be used independently to measure blood-glucose levels and results can be synchronized later to an Apple device.
P&G intros Pepto-Bismol To-Go for those stomach troubles away from home
CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble on Wednesday launched Pepto-Bismol To-Go as a new convenience option for consumers who need stomach relief outside of the home.
Pepto-Bismol To-Go has 12 cherry chewable tablets packaged in a pink plastic cylinder no larger than a lipstick tube, the company noted. “For more than 100 years, people have relied on Pepto as an at-home rescue brand for those times when they overdo it. However, many of our consumers aren’t at home when they experience the first signs of a stomach upset,” stated Phil McWaters, brand manager for Pepto-Bismol. “Pepto-Bismol To-Go can save users from their stomach troubles, wherever the road happens to take them.”
Pepto-Bismol To-Go is available in a single pack or two-pack, with suggested retail prices of $3.07 and $4.87, respectively.
Maty’s launches chest rub at Walmart
PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Maty’s Healthy Products on Monday launched its all-natural baby chest rub into select Walmart stores, the company announced.
"Having one of our products available at such a highly recognized and widely celebrated retailer like Walmart is a huge step for our brand," Maty’s co-founder Robert Harrington said.
Maty’s all-natural baby chest rub is a petroleum-free and menthol-free rub that provides relief for sinus and nasal congestion and recently was awarded Gold Award status from the National Parenting Publications Awards in the "natural and green" category.
The petroleum is replaced with coconut oil and castor oil. Other ingredients include a proprietary blend of essential oils from eucalyptus, lavender, dill weed coriander and chamomile.
