RxAlly hires Kerr Drug executive
LEESBURG, Va. — A network of pharmacies formed with the goal of helping patients achieve better health outcomes while reducing costs has appointed a new executive to its leadership team.
RxAlly announced the appointment of Rebecca Chater as VP health outcomes. Chater, a pharmacist who has worked in clinical services for 20 years, will be responsible for providing leadership and clinical management of RxAlly solutions and integrating business development with clinical staff and operations.
"Rebecca’s impressive credentials and extensive track record of success speaks to both her tremendous expertise and her genuine passion for enhancing the value of community-based, patient-focused quality pharmacy care," RxAlly CEO Bruce Roberts said. "We are very fortunate to have her on board. Her role will be critical in helping RxAlly develop and implement on a national scale industry-leading clinical service programs that support RxAlly’s member pharmacies in providing the highest quality pharmacy care available."
Most recently, Chater was an EVP at Kerr Drug subsidiary Kerr Health.
Novo Nordisk to form first all-diabetes pro-cycling team
BAGSVÆRD, Denmark — Drug maker Novo Nordisk is creating what it calls the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team, the company said.
The Danish pharmaceutical manufacturer announced plans to create Team Novo Nordisk, a global team with more than 100 cyclists, triathletes and runners, all of whom have diabetes.
The goal is to have the athletes compete in more than 500 competitions around the world throughout 2013, with the men’s cycling team competing in races such as the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, the Tour of Britain and the Paris-Tours, with the ultimate goal of joining the Tour de France.
"As part of our long-standing Changing Diabetes program, this partnership provides a tremendous opportunity to raise awareness, and educate, empower and inspire people with diabetes," Novo Nordisk SVP global marketing and global medical affairs Jakob Riis said. "This is yet another way Novo Nordisk is striving to create more opportunities to live well with diabetes."
Walgreens acquires independent pharmacy with specialty compounding expertise
ADDISON, Texas — Walgreens last month acquired UCH Pharmaceutical Services, an independent retail pharmacy based in Indiana, the company that helped broker the deal announced Wednesday.
UCH is an independent retail pharmacy that provided specialty compounding services throughout Grant County, Ind.
The Transition Companies acted as UCH’s sole M&A advisor for this transaction, which closed in November 2012.
