Retailers are king of customer experience

BY Allison Cerra

NEW YORK — Retailers rank among the highest for their customer service, according to a new report by the Temkin Group.

The consulting and research firm analyzed responses from 6,000 consumers, found that Amazon.com ranked No. 1 for providing an "excellent" customer experience, coming in with a ranking of 81.3%. A business qualifies for an "excellent" rating when their score is 80% or higher, Temkin said.

Also featured on the list were Costco, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Walgreens, Target and Rite Aid, which respectively landed in the third, fourth, seventh, ninth and 10th spots. What’s more, retailers took 15-out-of-20 top spots on the list.

The components of ratings included functional, accessible and emotional experiences. For retailers, the average ratings were 79% for both functional and accessible experiences, while the emotional experience rating came in at 63%. Temkin rated its experience at 74%.

BY Antoinette Alexander

MONTVALE, N.J. — Grocer A&P has kicked off a new initiative to expand its Kosher product offerings in time for the Passover holiday season.

From now through April 28, Passover shoppers at select A&P, Pathmark, Waldbaum’s and Food Emporium stores serving Jewish communities throughout the tri-state area will find new and improved Kosher grocery selections, the retailer stated. Enhanced offerings include Kosher prepared foods and deli meats.

A&P also launched a new kosher meat program, featuring chopped chuck, first cut premium brisket and Empire chicken. Various stores also will offer an extensive assortment of grocery items in shopper-friendly displays ranging from such staples as matzos, macaroons, Kadeem grape juice and Tabachnick soup to Matzo ball mix and Joyva candy.

Following Passover, A&P will continue to expand the variety of its Kosher offerings throughout the year to include more meat, poultry, deli, dairy and baked goods.

The move is part of A&P’s recent efforts to ramp up its commitment to a new and improved Kosher selection. Such efforts include hiring Barry Eizik to fill the newly created role of Kosher category manager, receiving certification from KOF-K Kosher supervision for the sale of all chometz products supplied by A&P’s primary distributor and conducting special advertising and promotional campaigns.
