Retail Solutions, Gigwalk team up to improve in-store execution
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and SAN FRANCISCO — Retail Solutions, a provider of cloud-based, big data analytics and real-time intelligence for the consumer products industry, has selected Gigwalk, the local visibility software platform, to power its new RSi Intelligent Crowdsourcing solution.
Under the terms of the agreement, RSi Intelligent Crowdsourcing will combine RSi’s daily downstream data and alerting capabilities with Gigwalk’s platform for on-demand access to Gigwalk’s public network of 550,000 mobile-enabled independent contractors. The integration will enable retailers and brands to gather and share in-store intelligence, identify gaps in the supply chain and trigger actions at the store level to correct errors in near real time.
Each year, $800 billion in revenue is lost globally to avoidable issues like out-of-stocks. Using RSi Intelligent Crowdsourcing powered by Gigwalk, suppliers can accurately detect store or event conditions, send real-time fix notices to store teams, share observations with the value chain and reclaim lost sale, the company stated. Pilot testing prior to launch, which was completed with five retailers and multiple suppliers, resulted in an average ROI of eight times the original investment. In some instances, returns as high as 18% were achieved over a few weeks.

With RSi Intelligent Crowdsourcing, CPG manufacturers can know with certainty that each critical piece of their strategy is being executed correctly at the store level. The new solution takes the guesswork out of retail execution initiatives, like ensuring proper execution of promotional displays, new item planogram compliance or preempting risks for out-of-stocks, the company stated.

Shopko names Michael Cantrell SVP retail health
GREEN BAY, Wis. – Shopko on Wednesday announced that veteran pharmacy executive Michael Cantrell has joined the company as SVP, retail health.
In this role, Cantrell will provide strategic direction for Shopko’s pharmacy, optical and Rx care departments. He will report to CEO Peter McMahon.
Cantrell, a registered pharmacist and licensed attorney, is joining Shopko from Delhaize America, where he was VP of pharmacy. Prior to Delhaize America, Cantrell held various executive positions at AmerisourceBergen and Longs Drugs.
“Mike brings high-level pharmacy experience, a proven track record of success and a fresh perspective to Shopko’s pharmacies, optical departments and Rx Care areas,” McMahon said. “His unique combination of legal and pharmacy experience will make him an invaluable resource as we look to strengthen and expand the health and wellness services provided to our customers.”
Previously, Cantrell was group VP managed networks at AmerisourceBergen Corporation where he was named president of the company’s Good Neighbor Pharmacy Network. Cantrell also served as VP professional services and chief privacy official for Longs Drug Stores, where he was named to the board of RxAmerica, the chain’s wholly-owned pharmacy benefit manager.
Cantrell holds a B.A. degree in chemistry from the University of Northern Colorado, a B.S. degree in pharmacy from the University of Utah, and a J.D. degree from the former Peninsula University. He is a registered pharmacist and is a current member of the State Bar of California.
Sam’s Club to offer free men’s health screening
BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Sam’s Club on Monday announced it is dedicating its free health screening event on Saturday, June 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to helping more men learn about risk factors and how to stay healthy. The screenings are free and available to the public at all Sam’s Club locations with a pharmacy (590 locations).
The free health screening event features tests valued at up to $150, including:
- PSA (prostate-specific antigen) test for men 40 and older: This test is used to screen men for prostate cancer by checking the blood level of PSA, a protein produced by the prostate gland;
- Blood pressure;
- BMI (body mass index);
- Total cholesterol;
- HDL (good cholesterol);
- Risk Ratio; and
- Vision screenings/testing
