Quaker Oats serves up new offerings
CHICAGO — Quaker Oats, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, is adding some innovative, energy-packed products to its lineup, the company said.
The latest offerings from the Quaker brand include:
- Quaker Warm and Crunch Granola: A hot cereal that combines Quaker Oatmeal with multigrain granola;
- Quaker Real Medleys Ready-to-Eat Cereal: The newest addition to the Real Medleys portfolio features a combination of multigrains, fruit and nuts; and
- Instant Quaker Oatmeal Cups in new flavors: Consumers can now enjoy Apple & Cranberries and Honey & Almonds, which pack 5 g of fiber.
Jelly Belly to introduce beer-flavored bean
FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Jelly Belly Candy Company is set to unveil a new flavor to its collection: the Draft Beer Jelly Belly jelly bean. Jelly Belly will debut the new flavor at the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco and ISM in Cologne, Germany. The beer flavor has been a popular request by consumers for decades, the company said.
"This took about three years to perfect," Ambrose Lee, research and development manager for Jelly Belly Candy Company, said. "The recipe includes top secret ingredients, but I can tell you it contains no alcohol."
The golden-colored Draft Beer jelly bean’s flavor profile includes notes of wheat with a mildly bready aroma and a hint of sweetness. Consumers can expect to see the Draft Beer Jelly Belly at candy counters around the world in early 2014.
"Anyone who enjoys a good, cold beer will enjoy Draft Beer Jelly Belly beans for the simple fact that it tastes just as you’d imagine," Rob Swaigen, VP marketing for Jelly Belly Candy Co., said.
Hershey unveils chocolate spreads
HERSHEY, Pa. — Hershey on Wednesday announced that it’s launching a new line of chocolate spreads, called Hershey’s Spreads. The spreads will be available in three varieties: Chocolate, Chocolate with Almond and Chocolate with Hazelnut.
"The average American snacks more than two times a day and what better way to transform everyday snacks into delicious treats, than with the genuine chocolate flavor that only Hershey can deliver," Anna Lingeris, spokeswoman, the Hershey Company, said. "We have been delivering genuine chocolate experiences in a variety of forms for 120 years and our legacy as the leader in chocolate continues with Hershey’s Spreads."
The spreads are now available nationwide at food, mass, drug and convenience stores in 13-oz. jars, with a retail price of $3.79. Consumers can visit Hersheys.com/Spreads for pairing ideas and recipes.
