Prestige Brands shakes up pain relief formats with shot

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — Prestige Brands was one of the first over-the-counter manufacturers to utilize an "energy shot" format to deliver an active OTC ingredient in an effort to differentiate at the shelf. Goody’s Headache Relief Shot will augment Goody’s Headache Powder’s ongoing success — sales were up 8.7% to $37.7 million for the 52 weeks ended July 14 across total U.S. multi-outlets, according to IRI data.

Xcentric introduces spray-on arnica product

LAS VEGAS — Xcentric recently launched Novarnica, a spray-on arnica product, in the Canadian market in January, and over the first three months generated $3 million in sales. External analgesics is a category where consumers are always on the lookout for a new pain-relieving option that works, which means new formats like this spray-on arnica could become a good seller.

Homeolab launches chewable tablets for respiratory relief

MONTREAL — Homeolab is in the process of launching three chewable tablets for respiratory care: Real Relief Asthma Respiratory Care, Real Relief Asthma Nighttime and Real Relief Allergy. Retailing for a suggested S11.99, the homeopathic tablets help relieve symptoms associated with asthma, including gasping for air, difficulty breathing, wheezing, coughing and excess mucus. Since Primatene Mist had been pulled off the market at the end of 2012, there has not been a significant asthma care brand in the self-care space. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, 25 million Americans have asthma.
