P&G to acquire Natura Pet Products
CINCINNATI Procter & Gamble has agreed to acquire a privately held pet food business based in Davis, Calif.
P&G’s acquisition of Natura Pet Products will expand its pet care portfolio, which currently includes Iams and Eukanuba brands. Natura’s brands, which include Innova, Evo, California Natural, Healthwise, Mother Nature and Karma, are sold in a limited number of pet specialty stores and through veterinarians, mainly in the United States and Canada.
“These outstanding brands and the great employees of Natura Pet Products will complement our Eukanuba and Iams brands very well,” said Dan Rajczak, SVP of P&G’s global pet care and snacks businesses. “This acquisition gives us a strong position in the holistic and natural pet food segment. It will enable us to enhance the health and well-being of even more dogs and cats and represents an exciting new source of growth for our business.”
Pop Weaver microwave popcorn now features Canola oil
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. Pop Weaver is introducing the first microwave popcorn to be made with Canola oil.
The new and improved formulation of the popcorn enhances the rich, buttery taste that Pop Weaver is known for, and is lower in calories, total fat, saturated fat and sodium, while also providing Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids.
“Since popcorn is all we make, we’re continually striving to make our product the best-tasting, healthiest popcorn, at the best possible price,” said Mike Weaver, president and CEO of the Weaver Popcorn Co., which makes Pop Weaver. “We’ve worked for years to replace our previous oil blend with a Canola oil blend, and we are proud to lead the industry with this innovation.”
All three flavors in the Pop Weaver microwave popcorn line – light butter, butter and extra vutter – have been reformulated to incorporate Canola oil. Both Light Butter and Butter carry the American Heart Association’s Heart Check mark, designating them as heart-healthy products. All three flavors also contain zero grams of trans fat.
Jose Cuervo adds new flavors to ready-to-serve margarita line
NEW YORK Jose Cuervo is introducing two ready-to-serve margarita cocktails, just in time for Cinco de Mayo.
Jose Cuervo’s authentic pomegranate margarita and authentic mango margarita join three other ready-to-serve margarita flavors. The beverages are packaged in new lightweight plastic bottles so margarita lovers can the cocktail anywhere.

The beverages will be available in grocery, liquor, club and drug stores nationwide. The 9.95% ABV product is available in two sizes: a 375ml bottle with a suggested retail price of $4.99 and a 1.75 liter bottle with a suggested retail price of $15.99.
