Nestle to set up division to address health issues

PARIS Nestle will set up a health-and-wellness division to address such problems as obesity, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease and others, according to published reports.

The New York Times reported Monday that the company would create the Nestle Institute of Health Sciences, set to begin operations on Jan. 1.

 

The division, which will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary, will be based at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in the city of Lausanne, the Times reported. Nestle is based in Vevey, Switzerland.

Pfizer recalls lot of ThermaCare HeatWraps Menstrual

NEW YORK Pfizer’s over-the-counter division recalled one lot of a ThermaCare product over the possibility of leaks.

 

Pfizer Consumer Healthcare announced Friday the voluntary recall of lot number E06931 of its ThermaCare HeatWraps Menstrual product and notified the Food and Drug Administration.

 

 

The company said possible leaks in the wraps could cause skin injury, such as irritation and burning.

‘Smoking Sucks,’ but quitting doesn’t with new cessation lollipops

WEST HILLS, Calif. Kicking the habit never tasted so good.

Three Lollies, the maker of PreggiePops and QueasyDrops, has launched Smoking Sucks lollipops for those looking to quit smoking. The new line of smoking-cessation pops are formulated with essential oils and amino acids, including L-tryptophan, which is a naturally occurring amino acid that some sources believe may help with cravings when people are attempting to quit smoking, Three Lollies said.

The pops are available in wintergreen, pineapple and cinnamon varieties.
