Nature’s Gate goes back to its roots with special-edition body wash

CHATSWORTH, Caif. — Natural personal care brand Nature’s Gate is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a special-edition body wash.

In Venice Beach 40 years ago, brothers Leo and Vladimir first blended botanicals from their herb shop with fresh rainwater to create Nature’s Gate Herbal Rainwater shampoo. The vintage bottle, logo and label design are reminiscent of the original Herbal Rainwater shampoo, while the formula combines the same herbal aroma and botanical extracts used in Nature’s Gate’s first product 40 years ago.

Nature’s Gate 40th anniversary herbal body wash is free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, synthetic fragrance, EDTA, PEG, mineral oil, petrolatum and animal-derived ingredients, and is never tested on animals. All products are vegan. The body wash will be available in August.

Nonprescription weight-loss drug Alli making return to drug store shelves

PITTSBURGH — GlaxoSmithKline on Monday issued an email blast to registrants of its MyAlli.com site that Alli will be making its way back to store shelves later this month.

"We hold our customers in the highest regard and regret the fact that your weight-loss journey with Alli was interrupted when production was halted due to a shortage of orlistat, the active ingredient in Alli," noted GSK in its email. "We just hope that when Alli is once again available that we can pick up where we left off and help you achieve your weight-loss goals. … See you on the shelves. It’s good to be back."

Clif Bar challenges outdoor athletes to Meet the Moment

EMERYVILLE, Calif. — Clif Bar’s Meet the Moment program on Monday invited outdoor enthusiasts to inspire and be inspired, empowering them to Protect the Places We Play by sharing their photos and stories of outdoor adventure at MeetTheMoment.com. Through user interaction with the site, Clif Bar will donate up to $100,000 to five nonprofits dedicated to preserving the outdoors, the company stated.

Each time a moment is posted, adventurers will have the opportunity to select the nonprofit that resonates most, choosing to direct a $5 donation to the Access Fund, International Mountain Bicycling Association, Leave No Trace, Surfrider Foundation or Winter Wildlands Alliance. Then, for each moment shared on the site using Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or Pinterest, an additional $1 will be donated to the designated nonprofit. Facebook “Likes” also will generate a $1 donation.

The Meet the Moment grand prize winner, who will be selected from the Top 25 shared and “Liked” Moments as of Oct. 31, will have $10,000 donated in his or her name to the Meet the Moment beneficiary of his or her choice. In addition, the winner will receive a year’s supply of Clif Bars, the company noted.
