Musician Adam Levine debuts signature fragrance for men, women

BY Antoinette Alexander

NEW YORK — Maroon 5 front man, Adam Levine, debuted in February his own signature fragrance for men and women.

The recording artist has teamed up with ID Perfumes to develop his signature scent. The women’s Eau de Parfum has a sexy signature. The floral woody scent boasts an overdose of spice intermingled with Indian jasmine petals, Australian sandalwood, and rose petals, to then unveil a base of vanilla. The men’s Eau de Toilette is all parts invigorating and sophisticated with an edge. A rush of mandarin, grapefruit, and lemongrass is intensified by notes of amber, sandalwood, and cedarwood to reveal a fresh, yet intensely masculine fragrance.

The bottles take the form of a microphone, with a weighted cap in silver mesh. The black stem resembles the wire of a microphone.

The fragrances will be sold in 1 fl. oz., 1.7 fl. oz., and 3.4 fl. oz. sizes at suggested retail prices of $35, $45, and $65, respectively. Gift sets and ancillary products will be released seasonally. The line will be available at Macy’s and Macys.com in the U.S. It will also be available at Shopper’s Drug Mart in Canada, with plans for increased distribution both domestically and internationally throughout the year.

Specific Beauty develops new Dark Spot Corrector Pads

BY Antoinette Alexander

NEW YORK — Specific Beauty, a treatment line for “multi-hued” skin that was developed by dermatologist Heather Woolery-Lloyd, has introduced its new Specific Beauty Dark Spot Corrector Pads.

The hydroquinone- and fragrance-free pads promise to deliver a powerful mix of kojic acid, arbutin and bearberry extract to brighten and even skin tone. Emblica, a natural fruit extract, soothes and calms skin while vitamin C and green tea polyphenols protect against environmental damage.

“More than 50% of those suffering from uneven skin tone don’t simply have ‘spots’ but also have a generalized uneven appearance to their skin. These pads offer a complete solution for those that experience dark spots and all over uneven skin tone,” explained Woolery-Lloyd.  Specific Beauty’s new Dark Spot Corrector Pads deliver a results-oriented treatment, without irritation, that allows for evening and brightening of the entire face.

Specific Beauty Dark Spot Corrector Pads are priced at $ 59.99.

Tweezerman names Olympic Gold medalist Lindsey Vonn as first brand ambassador

BY Antoinette Alexander

NEW YORK — Beauty tools manufacturer Tweezerman has tapped Olympic Gold medalist Lindsey Vonn to be its first-ever brand ambassador for North America.

Vonn is collaborating with Tweezerman and will participate in various marketing activities throughout the year, including Tweezerman’s first television commercial and a digital campaign.

The partnership kicked off with a national broadcast advertising campaign the first week of February. A microsite, lindseyvonn.tweezerman.com recently went live to coincide with the commercial campaign launch and features profiles of some of Vonn’s favorite Tweezerman items, exclusive behind-the-scenes videos, Vonn beauty tips, an interactive picture gallery and social media feeds.

Vonn is the most decorated alpine skier in American history and is on her way to becoming the most successful ski racer as well. Six weeks after she turned 20, Vonn produced her first World Cup victory in Lake Louise, Alberta and has since captured a U.S. record 59 World Cup wins, 14 FIS Alpine World Cup titles, four overall Crystal Globes and two World Championship titles. In 2010, Vonn became the only American woman to have captured downhill gold at the Olympics and also added a bronze in Super G. In 2012, Vonn set a new overall mark for women’s Alpine skiing with 1980 points, securing her fourth overall title, and won titles in Downhill, Super G and Super Combined. January 2013 set the bar high for the coming year as Lindsey clinched two World Cup titles with a Downhill win in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy and Giant Slalom victory in Maribor, Slovenia.
