Mariani intros Walnutmilk offering

Mariani Nut announced that it will be launching a first-to-market line of refrigerated Walnutmilk as a new entry in the growing plant-based milk category.

Containing 50% more calcium than typical dairy milk and only 45 calories per 8-oz. serving, the walnuts featured in the milk are a source of ALA, a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid, and vitamin A. The product also is rich in calcium and other nutrients and contains less sugar than dairy or other plant-based milk, the Winters, Calif.-based company said.

“Our test consumers loved the flavor and creaminess and recognized walnuts as a true superfood offering numerous health benefits,” Matt Mariani, who oversees the company’s sales and marketing efforts, said. “We are excited to bring this innovative line of Walnutmilk to the refrigerated dairy case.”

Mariani’s Walnutmilk is available in half-gallon cartons in original, vanilla and unsweetened flavor that retail from $3.49 to $3.99 each. The milk also is gluten, dairy and soy-free, non-GMO, has no artificial colors, flavors or carrageenan and is made with 100% California-grown walnuts.

The initial launch of the milk will be with regional partners in Texas and Northern California. More information can be found on Mariani’s website.

Mtn Dew brings back Baja Blast

Mtn Dew announced plans to bring back a blast from the past, but only for a limited time. The Purchase, N.Y.-based company is adding the Baja Blast beverage to its portfolio.

The tropical-lime beverage will be re-released in bottles and cans, beginning April 23, which marks the first time in two years consumers will be able to go out and purchase the beverage, the company said.

“Summer’s most wanted flavor is back, and it’s all thanks to the tireless efforts of Dew Nation,” Chauncey Hamlett, senior director of marketing, Mtn Dew said. “We were overwhelmed by all of the love we saw on social media and other channels, so we worked hard to bring back Mtn Dew Baja Blast. We’re always listening to Dew Nation and we’re excited to give them exactly what they’ve been craving.”

To celebrate the re-launch of Baja Blast, the company will be giving fans who use the hashtag #BringBajaBlastBack on social media the opportunity to appear in a video series to be shared on Mtn Dew’s social channels.

Mtn Dew’s Baja Blast will be available for purchase in 20-oz. bottles, 12 packs of 12-oz. cans and additional multipack sizes. Further information can be found on the brand’s website and social media channels.

M&M’S goes for extra chocolate in new cookie sandwiches

Mars Wrigley Confectionery is catering to chocolate lovers everywhere by introducing the latest addition to the M&M’s ice cream family.

The new M&M’S chocolate cookie sandwich features reduced fat chocolate ice cream surrounded by two home-style chocolate cookies with miniature versions of the bite-sized candy inside.

“Following the success or our original M&M’S cookie sandwich, we are excited to provide chocolate lovers everywhere with a new treat made just for them,” Emily Strobel, marketing director of Mars Ice Cream, said. “This addition to our M&M’S Ice Cream lineup is not only perfect for ice cream fans but as a brand, we are thrilled to build on the success of the original M&M’S Cookie Sandwiches.

The Hackettstown, N.J.-based company’s new chocolate cookie sandwiches are now available at convenience, drug, mass and grocery stores nationwide, with the suggested retail price starting at $4.99 per one six-pack box and $1.99 for a 4-oz. bar.
