Mentholatum adds four new flavors to Softlips Pure line

BY Michael Johnsen

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. The Mentholatum Co. on Friday announced the launch of four new flavors in its Softlips Pure line.

“The Softlips Pure line is a great choice for naturally conscious and organically curious individuals, alike,” commented Sara Snow, author of a book on greener living. “It goes on smooth without leaving a heavy, waxy film, and the light flavors are reminiscent of a farmers’ market.”

“After having much success with the introduction of Softlips Pure in 2008, and the growing desire for women to live a greener lifestyle, it only made sense to expand this brand of organically formulated lip conditioners,” stated Jennifer Hamberger, senior marketing manager for Softlips. “Softlips Pure continues to be perfect for women who are looking to add affordable … beauty products to their daily beauty routine without sacrificing quality, and we are excited to have Sara Snow on board to help us spread this message.”

The USDA-certified organic lip conditioners will now be available in peppermint, acai berry, papaya and chai tea flavors. Suggested retail price across the line is $2.99.

In addition to containing organic ingredients, the product is mounted on recyclable packaging that’s printed with vegetable-based ink.

Actress, spokesmodel Farrah Fawcett dies at 62

BY Antoinette Alexander

SANTA MONICA, Calif. Farrah Fawcett, a sex-symbol of the 1970s, who is perhaps most remembered for her role on “Charlie’s Angels” and for her golden locks that brought women into hair salons to emulate her style, died on Thursday of cancer. She was 62.

The blonde bombshell, whose posters graced the walls of many adolescent boys everywhere, became a breakout star of the detective series “Charlie’s Angels,” but her experience also included modeling for several consumer packaged goods brands, such as Ultra Brite toothpaste and Wella Balsam.

In the 1980s, Fawcett began tackling more serious roles and starred in several made-for-TV movies, such as “The Burning Bed,” “Extremities” and “Small Sacrifices.”

In 2006, she was diagnosed with anal cancer, and her struggles and setbacks were recorded in the television documentary “Farrah’s Story.” In the documentary, she is seen shaving off most of her trademark tendrils before chemotherapy could strip her of them.

This month, the father of her son and longtime companion, actor Ryan O’Neal, said he asked Fawcett to marry him. The two had agreed they would marry as soon as she could say yes.
