Life…supplemented kicks off ‘Why You Want to Be Well’ initiative
WASHINGTON — Life…supplemented on Thursday announced its fundraising initiative, “Why You Want to Be Well,” for Vitamin Angels for March, and will use Facebook to raise up to $5,000.
“Why You Want to Be Well” will feature 31 questions — one new question each day during the month of March — that will focus on one of the three pillars of health. For every person who posts a response to the question of the day, Life…supplemented will make a $5 donation to Vitamin Angels. Consumers can double their donations ($10 per response) during “Wellness Wednesdays.”
Additionally, every Wednesday two participants will be randomly selected to win a prize for sharing their motivations, achievements and questions relative to the three pillars.
This is the third 2011 initiative that Life…supplemented has dedicated to raising money and awareness for Vitamin Angels. The campaign conducted its “Spread the Love Tweet-a-thon” the week of Feb. 14, which raised $5,000 for Vitamin Angels. In early January, the campaign hosted a 60-minute live video stream with host Hungry Girl Lisa Lillien and wellness experts, registered dietitian Dave Grotto, licensed naturopathic doctor Duffy MacKay, and certified personal trainer Andrea Metcalf. The event garnered more than 900 participants and raised $10,000 for the organization.

We will continue using these platforms in the future in order to foster more discussion around the importance of wellness and how dietary supplements play a role.”
Perrigo names new trade promotion manager
ALLEGAN, Mich. — Perrigo on Friday named Lynden Johncock to the post of trade promotion manager with the sales department. In this combined marketing and sales role, Johncock will act as a liaison between customers and Perrigo to ensure effective exchange of ideas for business and product line growth.
Johncock brings to Perrigo nine years of experience as a sales and marketing professional, delivering revenue and profit gains within the appliance industry. Johncock’s areas of experience include sales territory management, key account development, effective relationship building, program development and team leadership.
Johncock earned a bachelor’s of business administration in marketing from the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University.
Perrigo is adding more than 100 new positions in areas all across the company to help keep pace with the company’s success and growth, the company stated.
Erica Mann to lead Bayer’s Consumer Care division
LEVERKUSEN, Germany — Erica Mann has been named the new head of Bayer HealthCare’s Consumer Care division and member of the Bayer HealthCare executive committee. She will join the company March 14.
“Over the past 25 years, Mann has become noted in the industry for her strong record of delivering business results,” stated Jörg Reinhardt, Bayer chairman. “Her outstanding experience and insights will further enable [the consumer care division] to take advantage of the sustained growth forecast for the OTC market.”
Mann succeeds Gary Balkema, who has decided to retire. Mann most recently served as president and GM of Pfizer Nutritional Health, and was a member of the Pfizer senior management team.
Mann joined Pfizer upon its acquisition of Wyeth, where as SVP nutrition she helped establish the shape and strategic direction of the new nutrition business unit, and, as managing director, Wyeth Australia & New Zealand, introduced a range of significant medicines and nutritionals. She also led Wyeth’s Pharmaceutical business in South Africa for more than a decade as managing director and CEO.
Mann, born in Vereeniging, South Africa, holds an undergraduate degree in analytical chemistry and a marketing management diploma from the Institute of Marketing Management in Johannesburg, South Africa.
