Laura Geller finds home at Ulta

NEW YORK — Makeup brand Laura Geller Makeup has announced that it will be available next month in all 400-plus Ulta retail locations throughout the United States.

In addition to retailing the brand’s signature collections — which include Baked foundations, Spackle Under makeup primers, The Real Deal Collection and many face, eye and lip products — Ulta also will have exclusive kits, such as Flawless in a Flash, as well as such special selections as the Baked & Beautiful kit.

"I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining forces with Ulta in such a comprehensive and broad way," Laura Geller said. "Their hands-on approach to providing the most informative, interactive and fun experience with their clients is exactly how I feel about my brand too. Laura Geller Makeup is about providing all women with the tools needed for an effortless, fast, fun and fresh makeup application that works no matter what their age, where they’re going or what they’re doing."

The brand also will be supporting the expanded Ulta availability with a "gift with purchase" program, a select personal appearance and artistry events in several top stores across the country. In addition, Laura Geller Makeup will have an increased presence on Ulta.com.

Girl Scouts get empowered at ECRM’s Beauty Week

CLEVELAND — A group of Girl Scouts got a behind-the-scenes look at how an ECRM event works and learned about achieving success in business and using diversity as an advantage during the Empowerment/Diversity event for the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida that ECRM hosted on July 11.

The educational program took place during ECRM’s Beauty Week at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami. The group, which was comprised of 75 girls, was able to test various skin and hair care products that were donated from a variety of manufacturers who attended the event. They even chose their favorite product from the selection, Salon Grafix curl boosting spray by Continental Consumer Products.

In addition to learning about ECRM, the girls were exposed to a woman’s perspective about the secrets of building a successful beauty business by the CEO of Sally Hershberger Professional Hair Care, Lynn Emmolo. Emmolo talked about the company’s certification as a woman-owned business and her role in the company. Celebrity hairstylist Sally Hershberger also spoke to the group about her experiences as a professional stylist and on how thinking outside the box helped her get to where she is today.

Hershberger also provided a cut and style for one of the Girl Scouts, and the hair was donated to Locks of Love, a public nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss. In addition, Emmolo discussed the manufacturer’s support of the charity in New York where it has partnered with a local high school to inspire and provide students with the resources to grow, cut and donate their hair to Locks of Love.

CEO and founder of Sundial Creations — the makers SheaMoisture products — Rich Dennis spoke to the girls about the importance of diversity in business. He talked about the challenges he overcame when starting his business to the growth of his business today, and explained the importance of the company’s products to be eco-friendly and all-natural, made with fair-trade ingredients.

Cristina Leon-Rivero, VP marketing, public and community relations for Navarro, offered insight on how dedication and perseverance was the key to her current success. She also spoke about Navarro¹s marketing efforts and how diversity is an important aspect of the company’s business.

This event also was held in 2009 in Miami, and ECRM hopes to host similar educational programs at future events across the country.

La Roche-Posay unveils hydroquinone-free hyperpigmentation treatment

NEW YORK — Hyperpigmentation — from freckles to melasma (the "mask of pregnancy") to age spots to vitiligo — is a common, usually harmless condition that can be caused by a host of factors. While treatments are plentiful, many contain the controversial ingredient hydroquinone. Enter La Roche-Posay’s Mela-D Pigment Control concentrated dark spot correcting serum, which does not contain hydroquinone.

La Roche-Posay introduces Mela-D Pigment Control concentrated dark spot correcting serum is clinically proven to correct and prevent the appearance of dark spots and uneven skin tone while improving radiance and texture in as little as two weeks, without the use of hydroquinone, the manufacturer stated.

A clinical study with Mela-D Pigment Control concentrated dark spot correcting serum showed a 48% reduction in lentigo size and color intensity in three months. Skin complexion was more uniform and skin radiance was significantly boosted, the manufacturer stated.
