Juan Soler, Honey Nut Cheerios form partnership

LAS VEGAS — Spanish-language novela star man Juan Soler has partnered with Honey Nut Cheerios to help Hispanics lead a heart healthy life.

The multimarket education initiative, "Cuidate, Corazon" (Take Care, Heart), seeks to help reduce the incidence of heart disease, the leading cause of death among Hispanics, while celebrating the great honey taste of Honey Nut Cheerios. The initiative kicked off with a satellite media tour from the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Convention Center — where the National Council of La Raza is holding its Annual Conference and National Latino Family Expo — this week. The tour’s message is expected to reach millions of Latino homes across the country, and will be followed by several in-market visits by Soler in the weeks to come.

"I am very proud to be working with Honey Nut Cheerioso this initiative, which is so important to our community," Soler said. "We Hispanics need to learn about the health risks of eating diets high in saturated fat and cholesterol, so that we can begin to modify ours. We also need to begin ingesting more soluble fiber, which helps rid the body of bad cholesterol."

Bear Naked debuts Fit cereals

LA JOLLA, Calif. — Bear Naked has introduced two new cereals to its Fit line of foods.

The new Bear Naked Fit cereals, available in Almond Crisp and Autumn Blend, are made with whole grain flakes, light and crispy clusters (with flax, pepitas and a sprinkle of chia), fruits and nuts.

"We’re dedicated to making delicious, energy-dense foods that fuel an active lifestyle — providing the natural energy needed for people to do what they love and get out and play," said Tom Bowden, director of brand marketing and innovation for Bear Naked. "We crafted our new Bear Naked Fit cereals just like we did our granolas — with everything we love to power you up without weighing you down."

New Bear Naked Fit cereals are available at Target stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.99.

Wonder launches Smartwhite for Kids

IRVING, Texas — Wonder has introduced a new bread for kids under its Smart bread line.

New Smartwhite for Kids contains no high-fructose corn syrup, provides the same amount of fiber as 100% whole wheat bread, the calcium of an 8 oz. glass of milk and has only 50 calories per slice, the company said. Two slices of Smartwhite for Kids contain nine essential vitamins and minerals, including iron, vitamin D and folic acid and also has 25% less sodium than regular white bread. Additionally, Smartwhite for Kids’ packaging features Wonder’s new "nutritional notes," which clearly display all of these important nutritional facts about the bread, Wonder noted.

"Smartwhite for Kids is a great way for parents to fit more nutrition into their children’s diets while still giving them the Wonder they know and love," said Stephanie Fletcher, brand manager for the bakers of Wonder. "The bread’s nutrition notes make it easy for families on the go to make informed, nutritious choices for summer snacktime or school lunchtime."
