Jelly Belly to introduce beer-flavored bean

BY Ryan Chavis

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Jelly Belly Candy Company is set to unveil a new flavor to its collection: the Draft Beer Jelly Belly jelly bean. Jelly Belly will debut the new flavor at the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco and ISM in Cologne, Germany. The beer flavor has been a popular request by consumers for decades, the company said.

"This took about three years to perfect," Ambrose Lee, research and development manager for Jelly Belly Candy Company, said. "The recipe includes top secret ingredients, but I can tell you it contains no alcohol."

The golden-colored Draft Beer jelly bean’s flavor profile includes notes of wheat with a mildly bready aroma and a hint of sweetness. Consumers can expect to see the Draft Beer Jelly Belly at candy counters around the world in early 2014.

"Anyone who enjoys a good, cold beer will enjoy Draft Beer Jelly Belly beans for the simple fact that it tastes just as you’d imagine," Rob Swaigen, VP marketing for Jelly Belly Candy Co., said.

Ips expands chip offerings

BY Ryan Chavis

LOS ANGELES — Ips All Natural, a natural-food company that offers protein-packed snacks, is debuting 3-oz. bags of its Egg White Ch(ips), available in four flavors. Consumers can choose from Barbeque, Sea Salt and Black Pepper, Aged White Cheddar and Cinnamon.

"Today, more than ever, consumers are looking for better-for-you options to replace the fat and empty carbohydrates found in traditional chips with nutrition their bodies actually need. With the introduction of our 3-oz. bags, health-conscious snackers can easily share a protein-packed snack with friends or family," founder Sean Olson said. "Ips are a perfect choice for those looking to stock their pantries with a smarter snack, as they offer 7g of lean protein per serving — as much as two egg whites. We’ve also amplified the taste in our Barbeque flavor to make it bolder, richer and smokier, so you’ll not only enjoy the taste, but also feel great about satisfying your snack craving any time of the day."

Ips’ 3-oz. bags, much like the existing 1-oz. product, contain chips made with non-GMO corn and egg whites. Each variety contains no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. Consumers can visit IpsAllNatural.com to find a retailer that carries the chips or purchase directly from Amazon.com.
