BY Michael Johnsen

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – iHealth Lab, a provider of mobile health devices and apps, on Thursday partnered with mySugr, a provider of digital health solutions that make daily life easier for people with diabetes, on fully integrating the mySugr Logbook diabetes app with the iHealth Wireless Gluco Smart-Monitoring System.

"Management of diabetes is not about managing data, but about managing patients. That is why it is so exciting for iHealth to work with mySugr on a platform that is designed by diabetics, for diabetics," stated Uwe Diegel, CEO iHealth Europe. "Connected health is not just the future of medicine, it is already a reality, and using connected health as a tool to empower people with diabetes with user centric applications will help us to transform the diabetic patient into an actor of his own health."

The mySugr Logbook is a popular smartphone application that helps people with diabetes improve self-management through elements of gamification, design and immediate feedback through a personalized diabetes monitor. mySugr Logbook is an FDA-registered risk class I medical device and carries an equivalent CE mark in Europe.

The FDA-approved iHealth Wireless Gluco Smart-Monitoring System is a portable smart glucometer that syncs with a smartphone or tablet. Diabetics can use the iHealth Wireless Gluco Smart-Monitoring System device and test strips to automatically record glucose readings within the mySugr Logbook app for the most accurate glucose results while eliminating the need for manual records.

Niche Pharmaceuticals launches microsite for migraine sufferers

BY Michael Johnsen

SOUTHLAKE, Texas – Niche Pharmaceuticals on Wednesday launched a microsite (www.MagnesiumRoadtoMigrainePrevention.com) which features an overview of the research done on the link between magnesium deficiency and chronic migraine headaches.

Niche Pharmaceuticals cites published clinical trials that have shown that daily magnesium supplementation taken for a minimum of two to three months can reduce the occurrence of migraine days by at least 50%. According to the company, the American Headache Society and the American Academy of Neurology now include oral magnesium in their preventive treatment guidelines for migraines.

Mag-Tab SR is Niche's magnesium product that has a unique formulation that delivers magnesium L-lactate dihydrate into the body slowly for maximum absorption. Taken daily, Mag-Tab SR provides twenty-four hours of continuous magnesium supplementation. The slow release component leads to better uptake in the body's cells and relief of many symptoms associated with magnesium deficiency.

Approximately four out of five people in the United States do not get enough magnesium in their diet and may be magnesium deficient, Niche Pharmaceuticals reported. And up to 50% of the 36 million American migraine sufferers have low magnesium levels associated with their chronic migraines, the company added.
