Hy-Vee partners with MercyCare on telehealth offering
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — MercyCare Community Physicians announced plans Tuesday to open a new telehealth clinic at a Hy-Vee location here, making it the first in the area to offer on-site, diagnostic telehealth services for the general public.
“This new clinic evolved in response to the growing demand for conveniently located healthcare services in our community,” said Tim Sagers, medical director of MercyCare Business Health Solutions. “We’re pleased to be collaborating with Hy-Vee on this first-of-its-kind venture in the Corridor.”
The clinic will be located near the pharmacy on the north side of the Hy-Vee store and will offer convenient Urgent Care services. The clinic can be used for a variety of acute conditions, including sinus infections, ear infections, urinary tract infections, rash and flu.
“MercyCare Community Physicians and Hy-Vee share similar interests in the health and well-being of the people we serve,” said Andy McCann, Hy-Vee’s EVP, chief administrative officer and vice chairman. “Healthy eating goes hand in hand with good health care, treatment and preventive care services. This new retail health clinic is a perfect fit for us as it allows our customers the convenience of easily seeking healthcare services in our very own stores.”
The clinic will be staffed with an on-site nurse who will administer the diagnostic tools to patients while MercyCare providers will attend the visits via video feed, acting in coordination with the patient’s primary care physician.
