Hamacher Resource Group to offer workshop on best ways to approach independent channel

WAUKESHA, Wis. — On Jan. 23, 2014 Hamacher Resource Group will offer its most popular workshop, "How to Grow Sales Within Independent Pharmacy," at its headquarters in Waukesha, Wis., the company announced Wednesday. 

The one-day session will cover the best practices for suppliers who want to expand distribution and sales in the independent pharmacy channel. HRG chose to offer this topic based on strong response to a survey they conducted that asked HBW suppliers for feedback on potential education topics for 2014. The survey was administered in September this year, and growing sales in the independent pharmacy channel was a favored workshop topic of 48% of the respondents.

"The How to Grow Sales Within Independent Pharmacy" workshop has been conducted by HRG four times over the last two years. Attendees have ranged from representatives of companies new to the U.S. market to existing brands looking for ways to expand distribution in the independent pharmacy channel. Dave Wendland, HRG VP and member of the owners group, said, “There are a range of companies that can benefit from this workshop, whether they are an established brand that is seeking innovative ways to better navigate the independent channel or a new product that needs to establish itself. Our 30-plus years of relationships with all members of the supply chain in this segment allows us to offer unique recommendations and insights into how to succeed with independents.”

New Japonesque color collection launches at Ulta Beauty

NEW YORK — Japonesque, a maker of makeup brushes and accessories, has announced its foray into the world of color. The new Japonesque color collection debuted in 220 Ulta Beauty stores on Oct. 27.

An additional 150 Ulta Beauty stores are expected to carry the collection throughout 2013 and 2014 as the retailer continues to expand and open new stores.

"The Ulta Beauty consumer has been a loyal fan of the Japonesque line of makeup tools, and we’re thrilled to be the exclusive destination offering a full range of cosmetics to accompany them," stated Janet Taake, Ulta SVP merchandising. "The unique look and feel of each product from the Japonesque cosmetics line will meet the needs of our consumers in search of bold, multidimensional color."

The inspiration for the Japonesque color collection began in 2009 during the midst of the U.S. recession. In a time of worry, the brand strived to bring color back into the world. The result: a full range of cosmetics featuring foundations, concealers, powder, blush, lipsticks, lip lacquers, eye shadows, mascara and eyeliner totaling 72 new SKUs.

Walgreens to honor nation’s veterans with military-only discount on Veteran’s Day

DEERFIELD, Ill. — To celebrate the service and commitment of the nation’s military, Walgreens on Monday announced it is offering a Veterans Day discount to all veterans and active duty military personnel. 

On Monday, Nov. 11, customers with a valid military ID or proof of service will receive 15% off eligible store items and 20% off Walgreens, Nice! and W brand products at any Walgreens or Duane Reade drug store nationwide.

“For their service, sacrifice and courage, Walgreens thanks all U.S. veterans and active members of the military across the country and throughout the world,” stated Mark Wagner, Walgreens president of operations and community management. “Offering a special discount to our service members is one way we can show our appreciation. We are always pleased to honor the military and do our part to participate in celebrating our nation’s heroes.”
