Fiery Fusion brings heat, flavor to Doritos, Cheetos brands

PLANO, Texas — Frito-Lay has introduced Fiery Fusion snacks for its Doritos and Cheetos brands.

The Fiery Fusion line amps up Frito-Lay’s spicy snack portfolio, offering a unique combination of heat and flavor, the company said. The Fiery Fusion flavor blends cheese, herbs and spices, followed by a slow-burning heat derived from a combination of cayenne pepper, vinegar and paprika.

"Now more than ever, Doritos and Cheetos brand lovers are asking for really intense flavor experiences and spicy snacks that can offer more than just pure heat," Frito-Lay VP marketing Tony Matta said. "New Fiery Fusion snacks deliver both — a truly unique flavor built around a delicious fusion of different herbs, spices and cheese, followed by a tremendous surge of heat that sneaks up on you at just the right moment."

Cheetos Fiery Fusion snacks are available in 3.75-oz. bags, while Doritos Fiery Fusion snacks are available in 3.375-oz. bags. Both are offered at a suggested retail price of $1.49 each.

Starbucks packs coffee, tea into K-cup portion packs

SEATTLE — Starbucks is slated to roll out K-cup portion packs this fall in stores nationwide.

The portion packs, which are designed for the Keurig single-cup brewing system, will launch in food, drug, mass, club, specialty, and department store retailers in November. The K-cups portion packs will roll out in Canada, Starbucks stores and direct-to-consumer websites next year.

Jeff Hansberry, president of Starbucks Global Consumer Products Group, said it expects the new venture to garner sales of $1 billion over time.

Starbucks coffee K-cup portion packs will be available in Starbucks most popular coffee varieties, including: Breakfast Blend, Pike Place roast, house blend, Sumatra and French roast. In addition, two selections of Tazo tea will be available, including Tazo tea Awake and Tazo tea Zen.

Starbucks coffee K-cup portion packs will be available in 10-count, 16-count, and 54-count packs, while Tazo tea K-cup portion packs will be available in 10-count and 16-count packs.

Malt-O-Meal enters Canada market

MINNEAPOLIS — Malt-O-Meal has made its foray into Canada with the launch of a new cereal.

Sally’s line of cereals, which is available in nine flavors — including Whole Wheat Bundles, Raisins & Bran, Marshmallow Moment, Honey Graham Bliss, Blue Pom Bundles, Honey Puffed Delight, Sweet Wheat Bundles, Honey Oat Medley and Cinnamon Bliss — for a suggested retail price of $2.98 Canadian, contains no artificial flavors, saturated fat or hydrogenated oils, and no high fructose corn syrup. Additionally, all Sally’s varieties also are free of cholesterol and trans fat, Malt-O-Meal said.

"It’s been our company’s long-standing mission to help families eat well and save money," said Linda Fisher, Malt-O-Meal’s corporate communications manager. "And we are excited to help Canadian families do just that with the launch of Sally’s."
