Enfamil maker launches ExpectingBaby app

BY Allison Cerra

GLENVIEW, Ill. — The company behind Enfamil baby formula has introduced a new mobile application for expecting mothers.

ExpectingBaby is a free app that provides a mom-to-be with customized week-by-week updates on her child’s development and helps manage preparations in anticipation of baby’s arrival, Enfamil maker Mead Johnson said.

ExpectingBaby is available for free download at Enfamil.com/app or via the Apple iTunes Store.

“We are excited about ExpectingBaby because it allows moms-to-be to celebrate and learn more about their pregnancies through a variety of engaging, educational tools," SVP and U.S. general manager Tim Brown said. "When labor begins, the app even helps track contractions, provides directions to the nearest hospital and alerts family and friends using a one-step notification system.”

BY Michael Johnsen

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition and Virgo on Wednesday announced a continuation of their education webinar partnership, offering a minimum of two new webinars in 2011.

The first webinar will take place Sept. 14, with the topic to be announced in June. The second webinar will take place Nov. 8.

Additionally, a provisional date has been reserved for a potential third webinar Dec. 14, CRN stated.

This marks the fifth year that CRN and Virgo have partnered to produce webinars on topics of interest to the dietary supplement industry.

The educational partnership between CRN and Virgo started in 2007, and previous webinars have focused on good manufacturing practice, supply chain integrity, adverse event reporting and most recently, the 2010 Food Safety Modernization Act. Speaker panels are made up of industry experts, often including representatives from government regulatory agencies, such as the Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission.

“The topics that we have addressed over the last five years have been timely and significant to industry executives,” Virgo VP business development Jon Benninger said. “CRN has done a very good job of creating thoughtful content for participants and bringing together top thoughts leaders to share their expertise.”
