Dr Pepper Snapple Group promotes two execs
PLANO, Texas — Two members of the Dr Pepper Snapple Group executive leadership team have been promoted to the level of EVP, the company announced.
Effective Jan. 1, 2011, David Thomas is EVP research and development, and Tina Barry becomes EVP corporate affairs. Both continue to report directly to Larry Young, DPS president and CEO.
"David and Tina have both transformed their functions in our first two-and-a-half years as a stand-alone public company by effectively inspiring, developing and deploying their people to deliver great value to our business," Young said.
Thomas, who had been SVP research and development since joining the company in 2006, has overall responsibility for all aspects of R&D, including product development, sensory science, flavor and ingredient technology, chemistry, nutrition and regulatory, process development, technical services, knowledge management and the pilot plant.
Barry joined DPS in 2008 as VP corporate communications and was promoted later that year to the role of SVP corporate affairs. She oversees internal and external communications, corporate and brand public relations, philanthropy, government affairs and sustainability.
Kraft’s Huddle to Fight Hunger hopes to score touchdown
NORTHFIELD, Ill. — Kraft Foods is continuing its commitment to the fight against hunger with its football-themed hunger-relief initiative.
Kraft said Monday that the Huddle to Fight Hunger program reached 18.5 million meals, which is 93% of the program’s goal. Its initiative encourages Americans to generate meal donations for Feeding America through several social media initiatives, including Facebook and Twitter.
The promotions lead up to the first-ever Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Jan. 9, which will be held in San Francisco.
Spartan Stores rolls out Indulgent Creations
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids-based Spartan Stores has announced the introduction of its new Michigan-made Indulgent Creations premium ice cream.
Indulgent Creations will be available year round through Spartan Stores, D&W Fresh Market, Family Fare, Felpausch, Glen’s Market and VG’s Grocery stores, as well as through nearly 400 independent stores in Michigan and northern Indiana that sell Spartan Stores’ brand products.
The four core flavors include double vanilla, toasted butter pecan, mint chip and double dark chocolate. Eight additional seasonal flavors will be carried for a limited time throughout the year, including holiday-themed ice cream that features stockings and Christmas trees.
