Dr. Fresh expands portfolio with Floss & Go acquisition

BUENA PARK, Calif. Dr. Fresh, a manufacturer of oral care products, has entered the natural products market with the acquisition of the assets of Floss & Go, including the Dr. Ken’s Natural Products line.

The line, initially launched by celebrity dentist Kenneth Nussen, is comprised of mouthwashes, toothpastes, breath strips and chewing gums. It is known for harnessing the therapeutic properties of green tea extract.

“The Dr. Ken’s brand is a strategic fit for us as we expand our oral care business into the fast-growing natural products sector,” stated Puneet Nanda, president and CEO of Dr. Fresh. In marketing the line, Dr. Fresh stated that it will tap the expertise of Nussen.

“With our extensive [research and development] facilities and in-house, state-of-the-art automatic mouthwash production line, we believe we can achieve economies of scale and reduce current product cost substantially, which makes this a very attractive acquisition for us,” added Daniel Enriquez, VP sales for Dr. Fresh.

Loblaw and Joe Fresh Style launch cosmetics collection

TORONTO Canadian retailer Loblaw Companies and the Joe Fresh Style brand have teamed up to launch a collection of lower-priced cosmetic products dubbed Joe Fresh Beauty.

The collection of face, lip and eye products have been created to be comparable to prestige lines that are frequently used by makeup artists and can be found in department stores and boutiques. The collection features more than 60 shades for lips and eyes, and the color palettes are designed to work effortlessly with seasonal color introductions.

“The partnership with Joe Mimran [creative director for Joe Fresh Style] and our design team lets us enhance the shopping experience of all of our customers,” stated Elizabeth Margles, VP marketing, Joe Fresh Style, Loblaw Companies. “The response to the Joe Fresh Style collections has been immediately positive, from apparel and jewelry to sunglasses and accessories. We want to continue to surprise and delight our customers with every shop.”

The Joe Fresh Beauty collection has 200 SKUs with prices ranging from $4 to $8 (Canadian) for makeup and $2 to $16 (Canadian) for brushes and accessories.

Perlabella PureDose Pearls now available at Walgreens

TURNIN, Italy Perlabella PureDose Pearls, a skin care technology developed in Italy, has announced that its anti-aging serums are now available at Walgreens and on Walgreens.com.

Perlabella was introduced at the NACDS Marketplace event in 2008 and has since been featured in several issues of Drug Store News, including beauty care’s “What?s Hot” section in the Aug. 18, 2008 issue of the magazine.

The facial serums are housed within a capsule that is airtight so water, air or preservatives won?t compromise the integrity of the ingredients. The line includes four serums: Retinol Face, Q10 Face, Vitamin C Face and Retinol Eye.

A 28-day supply of Perlabella PureDose Pearls retails for $19.99.
