Derma e hires new Canadian sales manager
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — Skin care company derma e has hired Adina Fast as Canadian sales manager.
With Canada as the second-largest market for derma e products, this role will help the company support and expand its North American business, the company stated.
Fast comes to derma e with more than 32 years of experience in the natural products industry. Her career includes sales and account management roles at companies such as Vita Health and Purity Life Health Products.
In her new position, Fast will be responsible for the growth of the derma e brand in Canada. This includes territory development, account management, broker team management and execution of tactical retail programs.
CVS Caremark, Wake Forest’s Center for Retail Innovation to co-host Innovation Challenge through 2018
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Wake Forest University School of Business Center for Retail Innovation has announced that CVS Caremark will co-host the annual Retail and Health Innovation Challenge with the Center for the next five years, through 2018.
“This partnership will allow the Challenge to be a meeting place between retail and health, especially as we focus on the aging consumer,” stated Roger Beahm, executive director of the Center for Retail Innovation and professor of practice in marketing. “The commitment by CVS Caremark will help make our event the most robust retail innovation competition of its kind in academia today.”
The Challenge is a two-day competition held each fall that selects 20 teams from top business programs in the nation through their submission of business plans. It is more than a competition; it is an opportunity for participants to learn from experts in the field about the graying of America and how that will affect retailers and marketers. At the same time, participants network with top executives in attendance.
CVS Caremark served as lead sponsor of the 2013 Retail Innovation Challenge, which focused on the coming “silver tsunami” and how aging baby boomers are impacting the healthcare system. This new partnership will allow the Challenge to continue to focus on innovations for aging consumers at the intersection of retail and health.

A team of Wake Forest MBA students won the 2013 Retail Innovation Challenge with their medication monitoring and alert system. The event is organized and produced by Wake Forest School of Business student volunteers.
Supervalu now features Stayhealthy HealthCENTER Kiosks
MONROVIA, Calif. — Stayhealthy on Wednesday announced the completion of its deployment of Stayhealthy HealthCENTER Kiosks in six states throughout the Supervalu chain of supermarkets and pharmacies. Supervalu, which operates Cub, Farm Fresh, Shoppers and Shop ‘n Save, is now home to Stayhealthy’s FDA-cleared, self-monitoring HealthCENTERs that provide clinical-grade health screenings free of charge, the company stated.
Screenings include blood pressure, heart rate, total body composition (i.e., percent lean mass, percent body fat and hydration index), total body weight/BMI and vision (i.e., color blindness). The HealthCENTERs also support the uploading of readings taken from personal blood-glucose meters, enabling meaningful trending of blood-glucose levels over time and allowing users to share their results with their local pharmacist or physician if they so choose.
Supervalu customers who register at a HealthCENTER with their own unique user ID and password will have the added benefit of tracking and trending their personal screening results over time in their own Stayhealthy electronic Personalized Health and Fitness Record, which is accessible from any Internet-connected computer or mobile device.
“The flexibility of this Internet, consumer-based system, allows users to record assessments on any HealthCENTER and both record assessments and access their Stayhealthy health and fitness record from any Internet-connected device and sets the stage for the future of health care in this country," stated John Collins, Stayhealthy CEO.
The inclusion of Supervalu to the existing online network of Stayhealthy HealthCENTERs increases the total number of publically accessible free-of-charge health screening opportunities to more than 3,500 locations across the United States and Canada. The online network currently is experiencing an average of 2.5 million tests per month, a statistic that has been on the rise and is predicted to reach 3 million sessions per month sometime this summer, the company projected.
