Dove’s latest ad isn’t so much advertising a product as a quality — self-esteem. The video shows responses from young women discussing what they would change about their appearance if they could. It’s linked to an initiative on Pinterest that is meant to address barriers to girls having high self-esteem.

Monitoring apps make up largest segment of mHealth market
NEW YORK — New data from Kalorama Information is confirming the ascendancy of health monitoring apps by following the money.
According to the healthcare market research firm’s latest report, “mHealth Markets Worldwide,” the medical app market was worth $489 million in 2015 — and almost half of that money is going to apps that can monitor a user’s health for them or their doctors, including telehealth apps.
“Involvement in this care segment has several benefits and hospitals, care givers, device manufacturers, and patients are continuing to jump on board with acceptance and using this technology,” Kalorama Information publisher Bruce Carlson said.
Among the classification of monitoring apps are telehealth apps like Doctor on Demand, which connects patients with physicians via video chat. Beyond telehealth, there is wide appeal in apps that can monitor chronic conditions like diabetes, mental health issues and heart conditions, according to Kalorama.
ECRM, DSN honor new Hearos, Tecnimed products
Ear plug manufacturer Hearos won this year’s Drug Store News/ECRM Best Product Award in the healthcare category for its SoftStar EZ Twist EarPod at ECRM’s Healthcare event, held September 20 to 23 in St. Pete Beach, Fla. Italian-based Tecnimed Family First was named as the finalist for its VisioFocus Smart thermometers.
With buyers casting votes on product innovation and packaging, the two products were selected from more than 20 entries in the award program.
Based in Aliso Viejo, Calif., Hearos is a manufacturer of consumer ear plugs, with a U.S.-based facility capable of annually producing 100 million pairs of ear plugs and 23 proprietary innovations.
The company’s SoftStar EZ Twist Series is a "hybrid" ear plug developed to solve the consumer issue of "how do I put ear plugs in my ears?" With EZ Twist, the user simply "twists" the super soft foam ear pod in place. Its attached cord makes it ideal for all noise reduction and hearing protection needs.
Finalist Tecnimed Family First’s VisioFocus Smart is the new entry in the family of the VisioFocus thermometers, which can project the temperature on the forehead or on any other surface, according to the company. It can also take the temperature of the feeding bottle, the soup, bath water, or any or surface. The projection systems of the VisioFocus thermometers are also able to give the correct distance and the correct point where positioning the device to ensure consistent measurements.
