Dioptics’ Solar Shield Fits Over sunglasses look to protect wearers from UV exposure

BY Allison Cerra

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Dioptics recently introduced a line of "healthy" sunglasses.

Solar Shield Fits Over sunglasses are polarized to avoid blinding glare, while blocking 100% UVA/UVB light, Dioptics said.

“Finding true ‘healthy’ sunglasses can be challenging as the federal government does not regulate the protective value of sunglasses,” Dioptics director of customer marketing Cheri Eichman said. “However, Dioptics and industry professionals have believed for years in the important role sunglasses play in eye health. According to the American Optometric Association, we should all be protecting our eyes from damaging rays and they warn that extended UV exposure can lead to a number of eye problems, including cataracts. Solar Shield Fits Over sunglasses look good and are the leading brand provided by doctors to their patients.”

Dioptics products currently are available online. For more information, visit DiopticsSunwear.com.

Once again, Kroger emphasizes hunger awareness

BY Allison Cerra

CINCINNATI — Kroger has kicked off a two-week campaign that is expected to generate $5 million dollars in cash and food donations to assist 80 local food banks in communities where Kroger’s customers and associates live and work.

Kroger said that its annual Bringing Hope to the Table campaign, which runs through June 11, will assist food banks that are members of Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. Since 2006, Kroger’s family of stores has generated contributions of $25 million in food and funds through the campaign.

"Our annual Bringing Hope to the Table campaign brings our customers, associates and vendors together to send resources to local food banks that help feed our hungry neighbors," said Lynn Marmer, Kroger’s group VP corporate affairs and Feeding America board member.
