Consumers get to vote on new Mountain Dew flavor

NEW YORK American voters don’t get to try out political candidates for a trial run, but things will be different for Mountain Dew drinkers.

PepsiCo, which manufactures Mountain Dew, will put three new flavors on shelves for a trial run lasting 12 weeks. The one that voters at www.dewmocracy.com like the best will remain. People in Los Angeles can also vote with a large billboard; after sampling the flavors, they can shoot a paintball at the one they like the best as a television shows a tug-of-war between the three flavors.

The test flavors are Voltage, with raspberry and citrus flavors, Revolution, with berry flavors, and Supernova, with strawberry and melon flavors. All three include ginseng.

M&Ms debuts ice cream treat

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. M&Ms and Mars Snackfood today announced the release of M&Ms brand ice cream Treats.

The ice cream bars and ice cream sticks on a stick contains vanilla ice cream covered in creamy chocolate-y coating with a colored red, green or blue chocolate shell exterior and were designed to look like the classic M&Ms candies.

“We are really excited to launch M&M’S Ice Cream Treats and make them the summer’s coolest treat,” said Craig Hall, general manager of ice cream at Mars Snackfood, in a recent release. “M&Ms ice cream treats are bringing the classic fun and color that consumers associate with M&Ms chocolate candies to the ice cream aisle and freezers around the country.”

To celebrate the launch, Mars is staging some in-store sampling events in Boston, Chicago, Hartford/Springfield, Conn., Los Angeles, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. A 1950’s ice cream truck featuring the new M&Ms sticks and bars will be driven through select markets.

M&Ms ice cream treats are available at retail stores in single or multi-packs of five and retail for $1.49 and $3.99 respectively.

Skinny Water supports athletes at Triple Crown of Cycling

BALA CYNWYD, Pa. Skinny Water, marketed and distributed by Skinny Nutritional Corp., was the official “enhanced water” of the Commerce Bank Triple Crown of Cycling held in Philadelphia on Sunday, June 8.

The professional cycling tour featured more than 200 bicyclists from around the world. Twenty-five cycle teams did 10 laps of a 14.4-mile circuit through Philadelphia that included 10 climbs up a 17 percent grade wall. They rode a total of 156 miles.

Skinny Water had a presence setting up banners, coolers and signs positioned along the race route. Also throughout the city, Skinny hosted Skinny Water hydration stations for both athletes and spectators.

“Skinny Water seems to really address the athletes’ needs in this high-endurance, high-performance, legendary cycling event,” Dave Chauner, president of Pro Cycling Tour, said. “Skinny Water is a welcome and practical addition to the Commerce Bank Triple Crown of Cycling, and we look forward to working with Skinny Water for years to come.”

Skinny Water has clinically proven ingredients that help workout buffs balance their metabolism and control their appetites, the company said.
