Coca-Cola reports strong Q2 earnings

ATLANTA Coca-Cola Enterprises reported second-quarter earnings of $328 million, excluding the effects of restructuring costs.

Setting aside a negative currency impact of 6.5%, the company delivered a total revenues spike of 6%, while the comparable second-quarter operating income grew 12%. In North America, operating income increased $43 million, or 13%.

“We have responded to macroeconomic conditions with solid brand and marketplace initiatives, including enhancements to our price/package architecture, and successful execution of efficiency and effectiveness programs,” said John F. Brock, chairman and CEO.

Lindt expands premium chocolate portfolio with new raisin and nuts bar

STRATHAM, N.H. Decadent confectioner Lindt announced the newest addition to its chocolate portfolio, the new Lindt Classic Recipe Raisin & Nuts bar.

The Lindt Master Chocolatiers have perfected a timeless recipe with the addition of the to its premium chocolate collection. The new bar, which combines creamy, smooth milk chocolate with raisins, gently roasted almonds and hazelnuts, is now available at Lindt Chocolate Shops and wholesale locations nationwide.

Pepsi Bottling Group completes acquisition of Mass.-based bottler

SOMERS, N.Y. The Pepsi Bottling Group announced that it has completed its acquisition of Pepsi-Cola Bottlers for the Merrimack Valley, Inc. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The Haverhill, Mass.-based company is a Pepsi-Cola franchised bottler serving northeastern Massachusetts.

PBG has now completed four U.S. bottler acquisitions since the beginning of 2008. The company also recently announced plans to acquire Ab-Tex Beverage, Ltd., a Pepsi-Cola and Dr Pepper bottler based in Abilene, Texas. The Ab-Tex transaction is expected to close in the third quarter.
