Coca-Cola Foundation awards $4 million in grants to various organizations

ATLANTA — The philanthropic arm of Coca-Cola donated funds to 38 organizations that support water conservation, community recycling, active healthy living and education.

The Coca-Cola Foundation awarded $4 million in grants to the 38 organizations. The foundation allocated $1 million toward promoting and sustaining active healthy living initiatives; $2.2 million was given to support education programs; $400,000 was given toward promoting water conservation projects; $300,000 was distributed to aid community recycling efforts; and $50,000 was awarded to support local community programs.

"At the foundation, our goal is to make a positive impact by promoting and creating sustainable communities around the world," said Ingrid Saunders Jones, SVP global community connections at Coca-Cola and chair of The Coca-Cola Foundation. "The funding provided to these 38 organizations will support community programs that align to our giving priorities across the United States and Canada."

Jelly Belly slims down package, but not flavor

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Jelly Belly is offering customers a new treat at store checkouts nationwide.

This January, Jelly Belly will release a new 1.45-oz. 20 Flavors bag, showing that good things come in small packages.

Each package of Jelly Belly will feature the company’s most popular jelly bean flavors, the company said.

Gorton’s, Ortega get together for the love of fish tacos

NEW YORK — Two companies have united to address the increasing popularity of fish tacos.

Gorton’s Seafood and Ortega Mexican Food Products, a B&G Foods brand, have teamed up to create a co-branded website and an online food contest. At WeLoveFishTacos.com, fish taco enthusiasts are given the opportunity to show off their favorite recipes by using Gorton’s and Ortega products, and can share them on Facebook, Twitter and other social media outlets. As part of its online contest, one finalist will win a trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

The co-branded site also is promoted on Gorton’s and Ortega’s respective homepages, where consumers can find coupons and additional promotions.
