Clipix launches new Web service to help simplify information aggregation

FORT LEE, N.J. — Clipix, a new free Web service launched last month, combines online bookmarking with file sharing and organization into one tool. Users now have a single service solution for saving Web content, uploading and sharing photos, and organizing documents all in one completely private or shareable space. Users can go to Clipix.com, drag and drop a "clip" button onto their browser bar, and then click whenever they find an item that they want to reference later. Clipix is accessible online and as a cross-mobile application on iPhone and Android devices. 

"Clipix is more than a page fold on the Internet. It was created as a tool to organize the hundreds of pieces of digital content we each collect, interact with and want to reference on a daily basis," stated Clipix founder Oded Berkowitz. "It’s just as useful to the Web surfer who wants to organize his funny videos into clipboards as it is to a team of professionals collaborating on a project via Syncboards."

Clipix allows users to clip items into existing clipboards — such as "Articles I Want to Read" or "Vacation Ideas" — and if the item does not fit into an existing category, users can create a new customized clipboard. 

And there are no legal concerns, according to the company. "Clipix has taken proactive steps to ensure users’ online safety when clipping content from the Web and protecting image owners’ copyrights," the company stated.

Weis Markets names new marketing director, announces promotions

SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets on Wednesday announced that Gretchen Suydan has joined the central Pennsylvania grocer as director of marketing. The company announced the promotions of Brian Bosworth to sales director and Maria Panko to private brands manager.

Prior to joining Weis, Suydan was director of marketing and advertising for Farm Fresh, a Supervalu division based in Virginia Beach. At Weis, she will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of go-to-market strategies designed to grow sales, increase new customer acquisition and drive customer retention. She reports to Brian Holt, VP advertising, marketing and public relations.

Prior to Bosworth’s promotions he was a category manager for Weis. He will take on an expanded role to help develop and implement center store sales building programs and initiatives. Panko, meanwhile, will oversee the product development and sales and marketing for the company’s more than 6,300 private-brand products, including center store, HBC and fresh private brand products. Prior to her promotion, Panko worked as a center store category manager and before that with Daymon Worldwide where she worked on the company’s private brand account. 

Both Bosworth and Panko report to Kevin Broe, VP center store sales and merchandising.

CVS Caremark Charitable Trust awards $2.6M in funding to nonprofits

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — The CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, a private foundation created by CVS Caremark, has announced that $2.6 million in grants has been awarded to 66 nonprofit organizations across the country.

The new grant recipients were chosen through the 2012 CVS Caremark Charitable Trust’s annual grant cycle. The awarded grants align with CVS Caremark’s purpose of helping people on their path to better health and focus on initiatives supporting access to health care and children’s programming.

To advance the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust’s efforts to improve the quality of health and well-being of underserved populations, grants were awarded to support innovative approaches that increase access to health care for underserved populations — including support for mobile health innovations that bring healthcare services to locations where people need them most.

Grants also align with CVS Caremark All Kids Can, a signature program of the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust and CVS Caremark that is committed to helping children of all abilities by increasing access to specialized medical and rehabilitation services, and providing inclusive opportunities for physical activity, play and social enrichment.

"We are excited to help deserving nonprofit organizations with the funding they need to create healthier outcomes in their local communities in 2013," stated Eileen Howard Boone, president of CVS Caremark Charitable Trust. "All of the nonprofit organizations we support share our purpose of helping people on their path to better health, and we are honored to recognize the important work they do to make a difference in the lives of children and families in the communities we serve."

In addition to the grants awarded by the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, CVS Caremark provided more than $3 million in 2012 to support a variety of programs focused on making a positive impact in local communities.
