Chicago Tribune: Walgreens stakes claim to third Chicagoland flagship location within Wrigley Building
CHICAGO — Walgreens will be staking a third flagship store in the iconic Wrigley Building here, the Chicago Tribune reported recently.
According to the report, the Walgreens will have a footprint as large as 30,000 sq. ft. And California coffee shop Peet’s will be setting up next door.
The Wrigley Building had recently undergone a renovation — to the tune of $70 million, which included a full restoration of the exterior terra cotta.
Target donates to flood-relief efforts in Colorado
MINNEAPOLIS — Target is donating $25,000 for relief efforts in Colorado following devastating floods there, the mass merchandise retailer said Thursday. The donation includes $20,000 for the American Red Cross and $5,000 in food, water and baby items.
According to media reports, about half a dozen people are confirmed dead and 200 are unaccounted for amid floods caused by what the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration called once-in-a-millennium rainfall. Property losses are estimated at nearly $2 billion.
"As our communities in Colorado begin to recover from these massive floods, our team stands shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors in the area," Target chairman, president and CEO Gregg Steinhafel said. "To aid local recovery responses, we will donate product and funds and make sure our stores closest to the disaster area are able to offer needed supplies."
Bi-Lo introduces Community Donation Program benefitting Susan G. Komen
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Bi-Lo stores on Thursday joined the fight against the estimated 232,000 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed this year with the launch of Bi-Lo’s Community Donation Program benefitting Susan G. Komen in all of its stores. From now through Oct. 22, Bi-Lo encourages customers to donate at any store register.
“Bi-Lo recognizes the important role that we and our loyal customers can play in making better, stronger communities for everyone,” stated Melissa Adams, Bi-Lo Holdings manager of charitable giving. “The partnership with Komen affords us the opportunity to support families in our communities who have been affected by breast cancer, as well as the opportunity to educate and raise awareness of this prevalent disease that affects so many of our neighbors.”
