Cape Cod brings back russet potato chips
Cape Cod is bringing back a fan-favorite.
The Hyannis, Mass.-based company announced that its russet potato chips would be hitting shelves once again. The chips are made with premium russet potatoes, which are sliced and cooked in custom kettles, creating a unique, dark, golden chip.
“We have a special place in our hearts for Cape Cod russet potato chips and are proud to have them back as part of our family of kettle-cooked potato chips,” Laura Merritt, VP of marketing at Cape Cod potato chips, said. “Consumers loved the unique flavor and we still get dozens of calls a week asking where to find them. Russet is our number one fan requested chip, so bringing it back was a no-brainer.”
The chips disappeared from shelves in 2007, and high consumer demand played a role in Cape Cod deciding to bring them back to retail locations, the company said.
As with other products from the brand, the chips are made with only three ingredients — premium russet potatoes, vegetable oil and salt. The chips also are free of artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, and contain no hydrogenated oils.
Cape Cod’s russet potato chips are available for the suggested retail price of $3.79 in grocery stores such as Publix, Harris Teeter, Stop & Shop and Hannaford, among others.
Pop-Tarts goes limited-edition with Splitz pastries
Pop-Tarts Toaster Pastries is mashing up two flavors into one. The Battle Creek, Mich.-based company is placing two flavors side-by-side on one tart, as part of the limited-edition Pop-Tarts Splitz line. One box will contain the frosted strawberry and drizzled cheesecake pastries, while the other features drizzled sugar cookie and frosted brownie batter.
“At Pop-Tarts, we love to give fans the varieties and flavors they love most, so we’re excited to introduce all-new tarts with two crazy good flavors side by side,” Angela Gusse, director of marketing for Pop-Tarts, said.
The Splitz’s lineup was designed for optimal taste when combines, and each flavor combination was identified and shaped after a range of testing concepts with thousands of teens and young adults, the company said.
Both launches from the Kellogg’s-owned company will only be available for purchase for a limited time. Further information on the Splitz line can be found on the brand’s website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Sabra intros limited-edition hummus
Sabra Dipping announced that a new limited-edition flavor, available now through October, would be joining its lineup.
The Sweet and Smoky BBQ Hummus with Jackfruit and Smoked Paprika blends the Richmond, V.A.-based company’s traditional hummus recipe with smoked paprika and a garnish of shredded BBQ jackfruit.
“Everything starts in the kitchen at Sabra, and this incredible variety is no exception,” Ryan Saghir, digital marketing director at Sabra, said. “But now more than ever, this recipe was also influenced by insights derived from social media. We relied heavily on influencer input and the conversations food enthusiasts are having online to inspire this delicious limited-edition variety. We are thrilled to bring a plant-based hummus with the delicious flavors of BBQ to the table and look forward to hearing feedback both online and offline.”
This new offering is made without genetically modified ingredients, gluten free, kosher and 100% vegan, the company said.
