Boosting (energy) sales at Costco

NEW YORK — Costco customers walking past this Living Essentials 5-Hour Energy pallet aren’t likely to know what 2:30 in the afternoon feels like, and neither should Costco.

Energy shot sales projections are expected to nearly double in the coming year, even while consumers continue to be cautious around spending. According to Consumer Edge Research projections, overall food/drug/mass sales could crest to some $700 million, excluding Walmart.

Armada Health Care expects boost in summit attendance

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. Armada Health Care’s seventh annual Specialty Pharmacy Summit next May is expected to have a 30% increase in attendance, Armada said Monday.

This year’s summit, which took place at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, attracted more than 300 organizations and more than 1,000 professionals. The summit also will be held at the Wynn next year, from May 10 to 13.

“Our full conference agenda, renowned speakers, networking opportunities and first-class venue are meticulously chosen to maximize the experience of all participants,” Armada president Robert Irene said. “The 2011 Armada Summit will offer a robust and comprehensive forum for our industry partners. This annual meeting is indisputably the premier national event for the specialty pharmacy industry.”

Whole Foods supports Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign

AUSTIN, Texas Whole Foods Market on Monday announced that it is supporting one organization’s efforts to end childhood hunger in America by 2015.

The retailer is expressing its support for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign through its shoppers from Nov. 3 to Dec. 31 in the following ways:

  • American Express will donate 10 cents for purchases made with any eligible American Express card at Whole Foods Market to Share Our Strength (minimum donation of $250,000, maximum $500,000 contribution);
  • Whole Foods Market will donate $1 for the first 15,000 customers who take the No Kid Hungry pledge; and
  • Whole Foods Market will donate $1 for each gift card purchased online.

Share Our Strength works with state, community and private sector leaders across the country to connect families facing hunger with the programs that can help them, Whole Foods said.

“Share Our Strength’s work demonstrates a very genuine concern for children and the fight against hunger in the communities we serve. We are proud to bring this fundraising opportunity to light in our stores to make a difference this holiday season,” said Walter Robb, co-CEO for Whole Foods Market.
