Bi-Lo Holdings launches Paws ‘Feed the Love’ Community Donation Program

BY Michael Johnsen

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bi-Lo Holdings on Wednesday launched the Paws “Feed the Love” Community Donation Program to benefit area food banks and nonprofit partners dedicated to eliminating hunger for pets in their local communities. Since 2010, the campaign has provided more than 85 tons of pet food for owners in need throughout Bi-Lo’s operating area. Due to its success, Bi-Lo Holdings is expanding the program this year to include all Winn-Dixie stores throughout the Southeast.

“It is awful to imagine, but there are many people with limited financial means who face a difficult dilemma each week: feed themselves or feed their pets,” stated Rondel Hartwell, director of community involvement and charitable giving for Bi-Lo Holdings. “Each year we dedicate countless resources to our area food partners to help feed the hungry. In the month of April we want to do a little more for our furry friends.”

Now through April 29, Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie customers can purchase a $5 pre-packaged bag of pet food with their My Bi-Lo Bonuscard or Winn-Dixie Reward Card, or give a monetary donation of their choice at any store register. Each bag contains a week’s worth of dry and canned packages of PAWS Premium, Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie’s own brands of cat and dog food. For every bag purchased, Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie customers will receive an additional 5 cents per gallon in fuelperks! Rewards.

Axium Healthcare Pharmacy to dispense Otezla, new oral therapy for active psoriatic arthritis

BY Michael Johnsen

LAKE MARY, Fla. — Axium Healthcare Pharmacy announced that it will begin to dispense Otezla, the new oral therapy for the treatment of adults with active psoriatic arthritis. Axium is one of a limited number of specialty pharmacies selected by drug manufacturer Celgene to dispense Otezla, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration on March 21.

PsA is an inflammatory type of arthritis that occurs in 10% to 30% of people with psoriasis. It occurs when the immune system attacks the joints and causes inflammation. In clinical trials, PsA patients treated with Otezla showed improvements in the signs and symptoms of PsA including tender and swollen joints, as well as physical function.

As a specialty pharmacy, Axium, along with medications like Otezla, is paving the way for better outcomes for patients with psoriatic arthritis, the company stated. Axium’s clinical expertise in psoriatic arthritis, combined with its ‘helping hand’ therapy management programs, helps to ensure that patients can maximize the benefits of their Otezla treatment.

Cardtronics extends ATM services agreement with Walgreens

BY Michael Johnsen

HOUSTON — Cardtronics has extended its ATM services agreement with Walgreens, the company announced Wednesday. Cardtronics is a preferred provider of ATM services for Walgreens.

Since the relationship began in 2004, Cardtronics has grown its ATM presence in Walgreens locations significantly — from fewer than 400 initially to roughly 3,250 today. The company is also the exclusive ATM provider for Walgreens in many states across the U.S.

Along with the relationship renewal, Cardtronics will support the new Walgreens Balance Financial prepaid program. Balance Financial cardholders can access their cash, surcharge-free, by using the ATMs at Walgreens stores. Offering access to cash through surcharge-free ATM access for its Balance Financial cardholders is part of Walgreens’ commitment to providing convenience for consumers.

"Cardtronics is continuing to make life easier for Walgreens customers through convenient access to cash, ultimately helping to drive traffic to its stores," stated Rick Updyke, president of Cardtronics’ North America Business Group. "This level of convenience is also why the company is a popular branding partner for many of Cardtronics’ financial institution clients, allowing them to meet their own customers’ and members’ needs in well-known, premium locations."
